A year ago today, my online decision tools went live, making today my very first birthday. Too bad there’s that other May 5th holiday stealing my thunder… Oh well, I guess I will have to get used to it.

I am amazed at how quickly the past year has flown, and how much I have grown in the past year. I owe a big thank you to my team and user community for their continued support. Couldn’t have done it without all my wonderful decision makers!

Facebook App is Up and Running, Plus Other Updates!

Hi Simonites! I know I’ve mentioned it on Facebook and Twitter, but I wanted to let all of you know that the is up and running. What does this mean for you? Quicker and easier access to my decision tools and advice through , just like you get by clicking the new button on the homepage. No more lengthy registration or log-in! The app also has a feature that allows you to invite your friends to try the app, too. Hint, hint :)

As far as other updates go, some of you may have noticed that there is a new factor category within Simon’s Decisions: Simonites’ Top Factors, which is now the first category listed. This allows you to see the factors that have been most important to other users who have already made this decision. Also in terms of the Simon’s Decisions page, I recently decided to move some of my Lifestyle decisions beneath a new label: Relationship Decisions. This is where you can decide on dating, marriage, breakups, hook-ups, and so on.

I think that covers all the recent changes. Keep your feedback and advice coming–my ears and my mind are wide open!

Easy Decision Making for the Facebook Crowd

13
November
2009

You may think that helping all of you decide and giving you advice is a full-time job for me–and, well, it is–but I still manage to make time for my other main priority: making the website better and easier for all of you Simonites to use. I am very excited to unveil the new feature I have been working on: Facebook Connect!

Some of you may be wondering, What the heck is Facebook Connect? Well, that was my question, too. The answer: it’s a way to making registering and signing into Let Simon Decide quicker and easier by connecting to your profile.

Here’s how it works: Say you have not decided to create an account with us yet, but you already have a Facebook account. All you have to do to start deciding is go to my homepage and click on the button on the upper right hand corner. This will allow you to input your Facebook email and password and log into our system! Then you have a choice: You can either start deciding and getting advice right away, no questions asked, or you can edit your Let Simon Decide account information, which will help protect your privacy. When you decide to log in with Facebook Connect, your full Facebook name automatically becomes your public name on Let Simon Decide, which you may not want (if your name on Facebook is Rainbow Sunshine, that’s what will show up here, too). So feel free to take the opportunity to create whatever cute name you want us to know you by.

Important note: NONE of your decisions will ever be made public on Facebook. Your level of privacy will remain just as private with or without Facebook connect.

I am thrilled about this upgrade and cannot wait to hear what you guys think about it!

One last thing, as you guys go through the decision process, you may notice that I have decided to streamline or combine some of the steps so that your experience is as efficient as possible. This should make the decision making process quicker and smoother, although just as thorough. See, I do decide to listen to my community and take your advice!

New Let Simon Decide Features: Message Board and Voting/Comments Features

24
September
2009

In my humble opinion, there’s nothing quite as exciting as the unveiling of brand new website features. It’s like Christmas morning! This week, I decided to unveil not one, not two, but THREE new features: a message board, and voting and comments features. I hope that these features will improve the decision process by encouraging greater community involvement.

Simonites Say: This is the brand new community message board (the link is in the upper right hand corner, next to Simon’s Blog). I envision Simonites Say as a place for Simonites to share tips and advice, voice their opinions about the site, and just plain express themselves.

Voting feature: The voting feature allows you to vote on the published decisions of other users, which can be found on the Simonites’ Decisions page. The question is simple: “Do you agree with Simon’s recommendation?” I want my community to be a democracy–it’s okay to disagree with me! It’s also okay to decide that I am a true genius, too… To vote, click on a published decision and scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Comments feature: Sometimes a simple vote is not enough to convey your opinion. In the same area where users place their votes, you can also now decide to leave comments, questions, and advice for the user who published that decision.

***

Decision requests: Lately I have been receiving lots of requests for more decisions related to love/relationships. Your wish is my command, which is why I recently added decisions that should help you decide about long-distance relationships, online dating, telling someone how you feel, asking someone out, and moving in with a significant other. If there are other Simon’s Decisions you would like to see (related or unrelated to these), you should leave me a comment and I will get to work!

Let Simon Decide Unveils New Website DesignYes, the rumors are true…I’ve gone under the knife! After putting in lots of long hours, I was thrilled to unveil my brand new design this week. Since launching in May, I have received a ton of feedback (some good, some bad) that helped me decide how I should streamline the look and feel of the site. My goal was to give the page a cleaner, fresher look and to make the layout more intuitive.

I love how the new design turned out, and I can’t wait to hear what you think. Please feel free to continue sending me your feedback. Thanks again to all of you who have decided to send me your thoughts so far!

Let Simon Decide Social Network Grows with Facebook Page

16
June
2009

Great news for all you Facebook-addicted Simonites: you can now decide to become a fan of the Let Simon Decide Facebook “Page” by clicking .

As many of you know, a page is different from a personal profile (it’s used for businesses, organizations, musicians, etc.) and offers some features that a profile does not, such as an awesome discussion board.  I’ve already posted some topics, so you should come on over and let me know what you think.

Message to my Facebook friends: please decide to become my fan instead. Once all of you move over to the page, I will close down the profile. Don’t worry, though, I’ll try not to let having “fans” give me a big head…
